Herb Alpert Horns Up Christmas

I’ll say it simply: Herb Alpert was a good looking man. Seriously. Anyone else know a trumpet player that looks so dapper, dashing, and just plain ole sexy? Didn’t think so. Alpert made his own kind of sound influenced by a Tijuana Brass Band he once heard in Mexico. Now, that doesn’t a very serious question I have. I’ve asked this in the past, and I still have no solid answer. How did a song from The Sound of Music become associated with Christmas? Wikipedia says it’s because of the winter imagery. Really? So I could make any old song, throw in snow, and boom! Christmas cash-in? I don’t get it. However, I don’t much prefer any version of this song besides Alpert’s. Take a look at the man in his heyday below.
